Contest! Design your own power!

I know that the process of earning a power from Terranfall has been a very slow and completely unsuccessful one so far. This is partially because of the lapse in activity, and partially due to lack of inspiration from the mods and myself. I'm going to work with Crux, our resident tabletop roleplayer, to see if we can come up with some system better than what we've got. In the meantime, I'm going to hold a contest! (Woo hoo!)

The Contest

Design a power for your character. The character should be one which already exists, not one created for the purpose of this contest, and must belong to a faction. Use your creativity to create a new and original power for your horse which coincides with his or her personality and history. Describe your power in detail. Then describe how your character's personality and history will be affected by this new power; what changes will come to him/her? What will he/she do with it?

The Prize

The top FIVE winners will have their powers granted to their horses at the completion of the contest. (And no, you won't need to go to Terranfall to get it.)

The Rules

1. Your character must already exist. If he or she was joined after today's date (August 17th), that entry will be disqualified. (New members, your character must have been created within 3 days of your joining date.)

2. The power you choose must be within the ability of the god of your faction to grant. The gods' abilities are as follows:
Purists: Amon, God of Destruction:
His powers ought to fall in the range of very powerful, visible things with high destructive capabilities. Fires, earthquakes, storms, basically anything elemental, potentially raising the dead.

Anarchists: Arathne, Goddess of Spirit and Self:
These powers should have to do with more inner capabilities - lots of mental abilities, invisible things, or things dealing with emotion. Inner things. Levitation, mind reading, teleportation.

Pacifists: Rhiadre, Goddess of Life and Hearth:
Hearth refers to plants, therefore anything having to do with life in general. Making things grow, weather, happiness, births, love.

Zealots: Kulassin, God of Time and Death
Pretty straightforward. Time and death. Though you can't receive power to kill others, you could do the ability to slow death or to speed it up, to freeze time, to sap energy, or potentially also the ability to raise the dead. Time travel powers or the ability to reverse time are strictly off limits, for the sake of not undoing the whole site.

Scholars: Lionas, God of Deception and Despair
These are more illusionary powers. Creating illusions, altering moods, projecting memories, etc.

3. Your power must make sense for your character. If you choose a power which does not fit with your character's personality, you must explain why you did so and how - in detail - it will affect your character in the future.

4. You may apply as many times as you want for as many characters as you want. Single characters may have multiple applications (but will only be able to receive one power.) Please submit each new application in a new post.

5. All applicants must be actively roleplaying. In order to be considered, you should have at least 15 in character posts written in September, by the time judging starts.

6. The top five winners will be granted their chosen power at level 1. Just like if you had received your power from Terranfall, you will be required to roleplay using your power and reply to the sticky in Terranfall any time you feel that you're ready for a level bump.

End Date

The contest will end on October 1st. All applicants should have their applications in (and their in-character posts done) by this time. Winners will be chosen shortly after, as it will take time to sort through all of the entries.

SHAHAR:
in short; judgmental. temperamental. intelligent. bittersweet. vain.
pacifist.
shahar can control love. since her long life was filled with love, love jealousy, angst and so on and so fourth. if she does not find a couple that appeals to her, she may just loosen the threads, or use her powers to let the seams fall apart - but do not fret, these are just short-term, if you resolve the problem you may create a stronger bond to prevent her to break anything else. as if for the love to her - it is a completely different story. at the peak of her powers, she would make you unbelievably in love with her - and - nothing could break your bond to her.

history for her has been turbulent and rough, at first she had been owned by man, made a successful showhorse. she loved them - and they loved her. but to other horses she had been spiteful - and stable to stable they went, until they found the right one. well, the yearly rains fell, and fell, and fell, and fell, until the whole stable and whole county was drained of all its buildings and animals and creatures and trees. deathgrounds, shahar recalls, fear looming into her eyes. she'd thought she would drown, she let go, once and for all, the waters sinking her into a deep sleep, washed her onto the shores of terra one day. at the first glance she thought she had reached heaven, lush grasses and hanging palm trees. dragging herself to deeper, she managed to reach the pad, and then to the love grounds - and that, is where she met stormshadow. love at first glance, as they said. he made her the queen of the verdesh, happily on the throne. he impregnated her - resulting in shadowrage (later the only surviving 'lighter' horse in the last battle of terra war II). but their love soon sunk, and she was exiled from her true homeland. life went on, until sublime stole her and bred with her, giving her pharaoh, and then kite. she got back together with her love, and then they fought side-by-side in the war, and when the new order became, she sought for his guidance.

shahar in the start was vain and arrogant, young and foolish, but later on she found that it was wiser to be lower-keyed and quiet. intelligence is in her, although the love of pure violence drowns it out. battles and skirmishes are an ever-lasting passion in her mind, even if she pledged to the goddess of love and birth.

PERSONA: He lingers on the 'darker' side, although he is collected and gentlemanly. Prone often to 'cock-fights' he is a power-hungry deathhole. The ladies are his main attraction, flirting and dreamy. If another male dares lay a single finger on one of his harem-mares, he becomes a beast, easily overcoming others with his sheer size and brawn, an impressive sight in battle. The ladies are merely playthings; he enjoys revving them up and producing sons out of them, because his golden lines do need spreading...
APPEARANCE: When he is in use of his powers, his coat becomes redder, almost a crimson. And still, even if his powers are not used, his mane and tail is the color of a burning flame, and they seem oddly flighty, anyways, he almost always keeps his mane and tail burning; a sign of power. His physique is powerful, plenty of rippling muscles under that tight hide,
POWER SOUGHT: Fire. He needs fire. The thrill of its acid burns staining his hide like badges proudly worn. The ability to raise fires from nothing, seemingly burning from its own life. Although in the first rounds he may get easily tired and dizzy, because it burns from his own soul, tearing and charring it into a darker, more withdrawn being. When this power advances, it will blaze wider, higher for more time, but it will take more energy and vigor from him; and often he will only be able to erect smoke for days on end after raising gigantic fires. This fire is like any other fire, but as you approach it you can feel the darkness inside of it, as it feeds from him, as stated before. Sometimes he can produce fire from his mouth, or if he feels amused he may turn his mane, tail, and feathers into flames, although this takes less energy and does not injure, as when he 'puts it out' it leaves the hairs untouched. The only things that truly injure others is the fire that hurts himself. And what is amusing, is that whenever he walks, a trail of harmless fire follows him, much like that annoying in-law that stalks to around. His fire cannot be put out by water or wind, it can only be put out if Pharaoh decides it needs to be put out, although the destruction will not reverse. If there is already an existing flame, he may manipulate it and twist it into form, or maybe increase its volume, or if it is too dangerous, he may cease it.
FACTION: purist
LEADER: himself. he is the ruler of the forsaken desert.
HISTORY MODIFIED: Everyone was surprised when the little colt choked out his first breath as smoke. His mother deemed him as a curse, although she nursed him from ground up until he was fit enough to go off at his own means. From that day on he spent most of his days playing with fire, practicing until he could form the most intricate patterns of flames. At two, he fought for the Desert, and won. He became more reclusive, relying on the flames as company. As he grew into manhood, the fires became larger; growing with him. He met Moniet; a beautiful dame that claimed loyalty to him. In peace they lived for a generally short while, he didn't use his powers because he was spellbound of her.

Rumors of war spread, and then the Verdesh was alighted; and it was an unusually dry year, no rainfall for months. He managed to manipulate the flames (and even increase it a little, for fun's sake) away from his homeland, and then retreated south, towards the forests. Nothing more was known about him, until he was called upon by El Loco himself to help lead a squadron, many were killed, and he used his powers to an advantage. Towards the end, he burnt a patch of his forest, to scare them off of his land. It worked. And with them, his darling followed, she went with the Pacifists. Enraged, he thrust himself upon the trees, the burning devil making lumber of the burning branches.

A strange peace was set upon the land after that night, he had gone into a cold trance, alone in his wondrous desert.
USAGE OF POWER: Pharaoh will probably just show off, not wanting to risk destruction of his beloved Terra, he will contain in, only use the ones that come from his body (mane tail ect.). Maybe, just maybe once in a while he would set something on fire just for amusement, watch it burn maybe. Although, if you annoy him he may just burn a branch to scare you, or something along those lines.
HOW IT FITS WITH HIM: on v8, i always mentioned him to be linked to fire somehow, so, tada!

PHARAOH !
i know a place in the dark where the animals go.

Character’s Name: Zoromi
Parents: Kimimaro x Aroganta
Faction:Purist

History:
Zoromi was the result of a force-breeding, and was expected to be born a strong young colt, worthy of becoming a Dark. When the time came for his dam, Aroganta, to give-birth, it was to surprised eyes that two foals were produced instead of the expected one.
Aro named the younger filly Faith, and the colt, Zoromi, after Zack, her mate, Aro, and Kimi.
When Kimimaro came to retrieve his colt, he found one, not two, and chose to bring the colt along with him, as Zoromi was the stronger, taller one of the two.
Zoromi accepted, and went along with his sire to train and become a Dark.
With all of the changing factions, he decided to chose the path of the Purists, as he believed that this was the only one suitable in his opinion for a Dark.
As a yearling, he ventured off to wander a bit, stirring the occasional fight with other foals, until he decided that it was time to find a herd.
Venturing up to Mordread, he made the Hollows his homestead.

Personality:
Zoromi has a can-do attitude, and he feels that power can rule over anything else if you think it true. If anyone choses to get in his way of things, he will quickly become agitated and will deal with the problem however he thinks that it would be done best. He would treat his new gift with respect and careful thinking, as in the beginning it may phase him to feel so drained.

His Power:
Zoromi has the power to project images and scenes into the thoughts of others, making them think that they are really in the situation in their minds’.
In the earlier stages of his power, he will only be able to temporarily distract his victim, giving him time to strike-out and give him a few seconds to get composed. At this stage, he won’t be able to cause any pain, but it will still be useful.
As he gets stronger with his skills, he will be able to actually project images and scenes that will be thought as frightful and painful, but it will all be mental.
The victim will be put into a state of mind that they think that they are actually in the picture that is only in their imagination.
But, in the later stages of his training, he will actually be able to project the pictures so that they are so realistic, they actually make the horse in the picture feel the pain of the scene, giving them actual physical injuries, and even, at the max of his power, death.
He will be able to chose from a range of different scenes, ranging from Raging forest fires, to freezing blizzards, but they all depend on the elements that are around him at the time of the attack.
If he wishes to use it in the middle of winter in the snow, it would be based on cold whether, so they would possibly freeze to death in their imagination, making the real horse injured or dead as well.
If he is by the water, it could be drowning to death. In the summer, fire or heat. Thunder storm, struck by lightning… etc, etc.
Until he becomes used to his gift, he will become drained and dizzy, but this will not last long, as he will become more used to the ability.

I think that this power suits his personality very well, because I have always though that he should be able to mess with others’ minds like this.. x )

Uses:
Zoromi will probably use his power to serve his faction, to purify the equine race. Most of the time, he might decide to weaken his enemy until the brink of life, before ceasing his attack, leaving the victim to suffer.
If he so chose to, he might project more gentle, calming images into the minds of loved ones, but this use would be strictly limited by his standards.

I'd fight for you,
I'd lie, its true,
No matter what gets in my way...

Character: Stormshadow

Faction: Pacifist

God: Rhiadre, Goddess of Life and Hearth

Power: The ability to modify life as he wants it, ie. perfect genes to make the perfect soldier.

Restraints: The mare MUST already be pregnant, he cannot create life, only modify the genes of the foal inside. It takes energy from his own body to make these changes.

Usage of Power: Though Stormshadow is peaceful, he is the leader of the Pacifists, and believes that peace will only be won by using strength. He will use his gift to create perfect soldiers, and will at all times try to find out how his own daughter, Illinga, gained her healing powers and try to plant them in foals.

...As long as there's still life in me,
No matter what, remember,
I'll always come for you.

Character: Oceanstorm

Faction: Pacifist

God: Rhiadre, Goddess of Life and Hearth

Power: The power of the elements. Being able to manipulate the world around him. The first stage of the power is to be able to create small things, like rain, snow, fog, a small fire. It will only last the maximum of three minutes. He will feel tired and dizzy, and he will need to rest for a few hours.

Into the thrid, fourth and fifth stage, he is able to make parts of him go on fire, like his hooves. It doesn't hurt him, but it starts to make him extremely faint. He is also able to make storms, small pools of water, and he can create some life, like a small tree growing out of the ground. This makes him tired, and he needs to sleep for atleast four hours.

In the last few stages, he is able to cover himself up with the elements. It makes him invisible, but even at full strength, he can only do it for a maximum of four hours. This makes him worn out, and he needs to refuel immedeatly. He can also draw life from the earth around him. He is not allowed to take from that half of life. also, by now he is able to easily make it rain or snow, and he can gorw bigger things. He can also use the elements to shield his mind from anything that intrudes. And, as a bonus, he is able to shift the world. i.e: create a boulder, create an earthquake that makes a crack, make trees fall, even when it takes more than half his energy. if he falls to many trees, or kills to many lifes, he comes very close to death.

Restraints: He can not cover anything that is non-organic. If there is a lake, he can not create a waterfall randomly. He can only shift bits of the earth, and can only use the resources around him to use the elements. If there is water, than he can create a storm, some rain and some snow and fog. He can use winds at all times, but with fire, there has to be extreme heat. In the winter, he can not create fire, or rain. He can only cover himself, and can only shield up to 2 other minds.

Usage: I think this fits Oceanstorm, because he has always been drawn to nature. It makes him feel relaxed, and it always comforts him. He feels the need to protect it, and has always felt some type of comradienship with it. So, he will use to to help protect nature, and to help nurish nature.

Affects: The effects it will have on his history is that he will realize why he has always felt close to nature, and that somethings can always be saved. It will affect it will have on his personality is that he'll crave the nature more than he will his home. He will become an addict to using his power, but will be straightene dout of it when he nearly looses his life. He will learn respect for nature, and then he will start to take the ods more seriously.

Character: Yiruma

Faction: Anarchist

God: Arathne

Power: Yiruma has the power of premonitions. They are glances into the future, but they are not written in stone, and they are not always right, or easy to decode. They are based on the decisions people make, and they can always change with what a horse is planning to do.The first stage of this gift is being able to take a glance of her own future. It will be no more than a minute in length, and it only shows day to day things that will happen. Seeing a permonition makes her tired, and she isn't able to look at it more than a few minutes after it has came to her.

Into the thrid, fourth and fifth stage, she is able to predict stuff over longer periods of time, as in a couple of days, sometimes a week. Things will be clearer, and she will slowly be able to see the future of her family, and the area around her. If she searches out a future, it makes her drowsy, and if she looks too hard or too long, she can get very sick. They will be more vivid, and he wil be able to predict a horses decision outcome easier. But, as she becomes more tuned to th visions, they will start to come in a riddle form. if a horse makes a decision that leads it to its death, she will have to riddle them out. The impact she has from the visions is seeing them through the horses eyes. She will be in their place, mind tormented like theirs.

In the last stages of this power, Ruma is able to predict an outcome of a big decision. I.e. a faction wants to fight their enemy faction, and the leader of the Anarchists asks to her to see the outcome. It will take three hours to have 3 possible outcomes. It takes longer, because there are a lot of horses fighting, each making a decision that could end their life. if she chooses to do a whole outcome, she cannot watch anyone elses future, only the whole war. Her visions start to become easy to have. it will only take a few minutes to have a horses whole future out in front of her. This is only a little energy consuming, so she is able to do three futures a day.

Restraints: She can predict futures for new borns, or older horses. They only have a slim chance of living, so it is harder to predict their life, especially when their mind starts to become dimer. She can't predict if something will ruin the world, only specific futures. She will catch glimpses of the weather, but she can't see what the next days weather will be. She can't predict another animals future, or shape shifters, since they are always on the verge of changing.

Usage: Ruma will use this power to help her faction, but to see if she can help out her family. She will use it for horses in need, and will use to protect her leader.

Name: Peter Pan
Faction: Scholars
God: Lionas
Power: Teleportation

How it links to him: He is always worrying about horses he knows and how they're doing - whether theyy're in trouble, etc. He spends most of his time running between them, being a saint and helping them out whenever. THis way he can go to them instantly.

Restraints: Level 1-4: He can only do it once in a while and if he does it too many times too soon, he could fall unconscious. Also, he sometimes ends up in the wrong place, e.g. Wanting to go to Sanmere but ending up in The Pad.

5-7: He can teleport about every half an hour. He doesn't get tired so easily and he doesn't end up in the wrong place so often.

8-10: He can easily use his power 3 times every hour. He doesn't collapse very often or arrive feeling exhausted. He mostly ends up in the right spot and even if he doesn't, it's not far off. E.g. Instead of landing in a glade, he ends up stuck in a tree very near one.

I hope no-one has this power. I don't feel like changing it again....

Whoah, this is the coolest contest EVER!

Character: Isces

Faction: Pacifist (Rhiadre)

Personality: Isces is kind, sweet, and loving. She finds happiness in any situation, always trying to look at the bright side. She is almost never found in a foul mood. She loves nature. She dances to the music of the orchestra of the earth, thrilling at every tree, flower, and blue sky. She often prances around happily, enjoying any kind of day to the fullest.

Power: The power to control the movement of others.

How it works: The way Isces' power works reflects her personality greatly. When she uses her power, she creates music in the mind of the horse she wants to control. It is a strange, beautiful, intriguing sound, each song different, depending on how Isces wishes her target to move. The music overpowers her target with the desire to move to it, to follow the rythm. It gives them an impulse to move their limbs in a certain way. Sort of like a bad pun on "let the beat control you" if you will. Through this, Isces can make another simply dance to her beat, or be soothed and stand very still. It can make them walk away, or come to her. It all depends.
Level 1: Isces can faintly project a song within someone's head, though it's muttled and confused, not fully following any sort of rythm. Just a bunch of notes, all mixed up.
Level 2: Isces can now create focused music in the mind of another, and it is a definite, purposeful sound.
Levels 3-5: Isces can begin to control the actual movements, using her projected music to weave a command. From just the simple tap of a hoof, to a more purposeful, defined movements such as walking a few steps, she is beginning to gain control. There are many mistakes and flaws in her power still, many times the movement she asks for or the music she wishes to project turns out changing into a different command or song.

Levels 6-8: Isces has much more control over her power, and her attempts are beginning to grow stronger. She is able to use her abilities to control movement more easily, though sometimes things do not turn out as she had hoped.

Levels 9&10: Isces rarely makes mistakes with her power. The music she projects is clear, strong, and beautiful. Her movement commands are powerful and nearly impossible to resist. The rythm can easily take over someone, forcing them to run one way, to trot the other, to advance and retreat, or simply lift a hoof.

Drawbacks: This power does not work over long distances, Isces must be within speaking range for it to work to its fullest. In the lower levels as she begins, she will also find herself sapped of much energy after every attempt. Even in the higher levels, it still takes some stamina to use her power.

How It Will Be Used: Isces is too delicate and kind to use violence to protect herself...so she needs some less violent, kinder way to defend herself when needed. She can't kill things, because it makes her depressed to think that she took someone's life, even a wolf or lion that was trying to kill her. Mostly, she will use her power to make others happy, to give them music to dance to, to let them feel their bodies move gracefully and quickly to the tune that's meant for them. If it could make other people happy, it would definitely fit Isces.

the little angel--x
Lost

lineage--x
Lucifer x Insomniatic

faction--x
Purist

a little about her--x

Lost is haughty and short tempered. Once the fuse is lit, the bomb goes off. When not chewing someone out for being alive, she is sarcastic and dry. She has Lucifer's wits and sharp attitude, along with Insomniatic's fighting will This little girl is dainty and frail, but doesn't let others know it. The only one she truly trusts is Zekara, who she thinks of as the mother she never had. But even if Lost doesn't like her birth mother much, she still fights to uphold her blood line's honor, whether it be against her will or simply because she doesn't want to be shunned, no one knows. She inherited her mother's arthritis and developed problems walking. The rain and cold weather irritates her so, and humidity, also. Therefor, she stays away from the Cape or any watery places. This ailment has shortened her life span drastically as it did with her dam. During the second Terra war, she pushed herself greatly. Her legs now have the tendency to suddenly buckle and leave her useless, like paralysis. Even though she is so young, she has entered the advanced stages of her ailment. But she pushes on, not wallowing in her pain. She pushes herself way beyond her limits, though it ends in her life being eaten away; she hates being weak and yearns to be strong. Lost doesn't wish to believe in fate or destiny, merely to the many outcomes that may happen, that she herself can choose her own future.

her enchantment--x

Like the depths of her eyes, ice is her true element. To control the coldest of winter, to turn the summer's heat to Jack Frost's icy lace over the land. When at first level, she can draw moisture from the air and water around to her and ice it over lightly; enough to create a sparkling surface, such as a freshly frosted window pane in the winter. But using her power creates streaking pains through her shoulder and her whole body. Keeping in mind she can draw water towards her, if her concentration is broken, such as a twig snapping, her power is ended abruptly and fails.

When at the next level, Lost gains the ability to harden the moisture to a solid, but only thin ice; enough to make one slip and fall. She also gains more control over water and bringing it towards herself. But this too makes her arthritis flare up to an even higher level, though she bears with the pain. In her mind, she must do anything to reach the top and knock away any opponents that stand in the way, but not to be reckless with her power.

As each level progresses, she can harden the ice and make it into sharp knife-like shards.

Once Lost reaches the final level, she can fully control all water around her, though her "payment" for using it still persists. She is able draw the water to her and form it into crystal shards, then send them rushing at her opponent. But she can also use it to her advantage: as a temporary relief for her arthritis. To do this, she moistens her pained shoulder and uses her power to harden only that area; like a natural ice pack. At this stage, she can even create an ice storm or blizzard in a state of pure rage or high amounts of emotion.

She always thought water was her worst enemy, but now it turns out to be her greatest ally.

why she yearns for power--x

The little girl longs for the blessing of Amon so she can be of use to her dark lord. Due to her cripple, she cannot run or fight well, and is usually confined to the ground. Lost knows the only way she can gain a fighting ability is to achieve the quest to find a power. By the way she was raised, she can't stand being of little or no use. Insomniatic always taught her to overcome the obstacles at all costs, even if it takes your life. Lost deeply believes in her words and she longs to uphold her family's honor. Due to her own personal hate for Lucifer, she wishes to show him she is as good as any one else and to climb higher than him in the faction system.

gonna be a change in the way she sees--x

Lost's feelings of being independent will be affected by this. She will learn that even the greatest of warriors need someone to depend on, and that no one can get through life alone and without anyone to lean on every once and a while.

Just a reminder that this contest is still open, and that you CAN apply with multiple horses, and you can submit multiple applications for each horse, too. So keep the applications coming in! Keep pushing your creativity :)

Character: Aesteria

Faction: Purist

About her: Aesteria is twisted and mangled, just like her heart. She loathes nearly everyone, just because she can, ESPECIALLY people who are more fortunate than her. She is quick to fight, quick to attack, and enjoys torturing others...she's a little ray of sunshine, that one is.

History: Aesteria can't remember much of her past. She was bashed on the head by a stallion when she was young, and passed out. The blow caused her to lose every memory she had of her childhood. With no one and nothing and a terrible ache in her head, she became extremely bitter, hating everyone because they had family, they had lives, they had memories. Her head was damaged in the accident, causing her to randomly black out. When she wakes from her blackouts, she has temporary memory loss, where she's unguarded and helpless, not knowing who she is. The only horse she has an inkling of respect for is Renegade. She is strangely drawn to him, and becomes a completely different person around him.

Power: The power to inflict her pain on others

How it works: Aesteria's power would be useful in combat. She is able to inflict her own physical injuries and pains on others. Say she's in a fight with someone, and they slice her shoulder open. Aesteria can channel that wound from her shoulder to her opponents shoulder, transferring her wound to them. Her own wound will heal a bit more quickly than your average one, as well. It would make her a vicious opponent in a fight, because if you hit her, you're basically hitting yourself.

Level 1: Aesteria's power doesn't work as well as she wishes it to. If she is hit during a fight, she can channel the pain back to her opponent, though they only feel it internally, and half as bad as Aesteria has it. The wound does not physically appear on their flesh yet. Mistakes are common.

Level 2: Aesteria can channel the full pain of her wound onto her opponent, but it is only internally. The wound does not appear on their flesh. Mistakes are common.

Levels 3-5: Aesteria can finally inflict her wounds physically. If you bruise her stomach, you bruise your stomach. It shows up as a true flesh wound. Sometimes her attempts do not work, however, and you can sneak by unscathed. She is finding that after channeling a wound to someone, a bit of her pain is eased.

Levels 6-8: Aesteria's power is growing much stronger. Her wounds heal more quickly, and her mistakes are becoming less common.

Levels 9&10: Mistakes are very rare. Her power is the strongest it could be. If you cut her, she can transfer that same cut to you. Hers will heal more fastly than your average cut, and some of the pain is eased while doing so.

Drawbacks: Aesteria's power can only be used on the person who inflicted her pain. So, if Bob and Fred attack her, and Fred bites her, Aesteria cannot transfer the bite to Bob. That said, if she falls and scrapes her leg, she cannot transfer that scrape, because she inflicted it on herself. Her wounds do heal more quickly than is thought normal, but they still bleed, hurt, and scar, which can weaken her ability to use her power, if she is weakened in a fight by blows.

How it will be used: Aesteria frequently gets into fights because of her hot-headed temper. She'll use it to get her way and disable her opponent. Since some of the pain subsides when she transfers a wound to another, it allows her to push herself farther, when other equines may retreat because of the pain. She is purist, so she would use it in hopes to rid the "lesser kind" of equine.

ALUKA -
pacifist.

Aluka is like a seedling rising from a shady bottom floor, she'll find that sliver of sunlight - and she shall climb.

As a child she remained close with her mother, pressing her cheek to a warm hip every chance she could get. No journey was complete without her mother close in toe to encourage her, the old mare seemed to hold much more wisdom than her time; like a grandmother oak tree, watching things grow, live, love and die all around her...just taking it in. Aluka admired such a natural quality.

Aluka was far too impatient to achieve this on her own, being far to impatient to simply 'watch' things...Aluka was endlessly curious, as her mother had always taught her to be, but she was also the proud owner of a very short attention span...again, sit and observe..something she couldn't fully grasp.

Alu often wondered if her mother had some deep friendship with the trees, Alu imagined that they whispered to her as she walked by them - telling them of the past travelers and happens that they've seen.. She could picture the pansy's gossiping, the tulips humming and the grasses dancing with wind and her mother being deeply connected to all of it. But of course that couldn't be possible...horses are not on the same level as plants, of course.

The power:
Possessing the power to see, hear, possibly "experience" what the plant(s) have been through. Like, by touching the trunk of an old tree it can take you to the moment, like a vision; you can observe from their point of view at that point in time.

Levels:
As the horse progresses through the levels it's sense will get clearer, less choppy and much stronger. In the early stages you can only experiance short bursts of sound, like conversations or footsteps, but you can only get this by touching flowers (while blooming) or foliage (i.e. bushes, leaves etc.). As you progress to higher levels you can begin to hear/see the visions for longer periods of time, they appear like ideas or memories. Even further up the level ladder your visions become real for as long or short as you want, when you've finally mastered the power you'll gain the respect of the eldest trees in the forests & they will allow you to touch and see/feel/hear/experience what they have seen.

----

Well, that might be all over the place but for the most part i tried to capture the whole idea. I'll be back to enter Primus's app.

Midpoint Evaluation

Shahar
Power - Decent, though it will be difficult to roleplay without powerplaying. This power would always need OOC approval of the characters you are manipulating beforehand.
Posts - you've only 2 posts in the month of September, and neither are in character! Hop to it!

Pharaoh
Power - Overdone. I've seen flaming manes and tails a million times; search deviantart for "fire horse" and I guarantee you will find several pictures of just that. I believe there is more to Pharaoh's character than that - dig deeper.
Posts - still no in character posts :P

Zoromi
Power - I like it, really, but that doesn't mean it couldn't use tweaking. As it is described now, this power falls pretty solidly in the realm of a Scholar power, not a Pacifist one. With a few tweaks - i.e. using a link to the mind to inflict actual pain instead of just perceived pain - I could see this being done.
Posts - Only one in character post in the month of September. 14 more to go before the month is over. :)

Stormshadow
Power - Very intriguing, and fits very well with your faction. I can't directly see what in Stormshadow's personality would cause that to be the power he was given, but I could certainly see it working... especially if he has the ability to modify genes of fetuses in general, even if he only uses that power of modification to produce strong young warriors.
Posts - 4/15 in character posts this month... getting there!

Oceanstorm
Power - You've basically just outlined every generic power, all rolled into one. I can tell you right now that this will not be a winning entry, as we are trying to avoid an overload of elemental powers, but I encourage you to try again. Oceanstorm is a great character. I'm positive you can come up with something more unique to him. ^_^
Posts - no posts yet this month. Get crackin'. :)

Yiruma
Power - This is very well outlined. So far, I'm liking it a lot. I would like to amend that, being an anarchist power, the emphasis should be on "self". Therefore, I think rather than seeing the outcome of large events (which we often don't pre-plan anyway), her powers should be limited to seeing her own future and, in the higher levels, the futures of those very close to her.
Posts - Still none! Go go go.

Peter Pan
Power - Not too shabby. Being a Scholar power, which focuses more on illusion, I would encourage you to begin by projecting your mind only in the beginning levels, and work up to actual teleportation in the later levels.
Posts - No in character posts in September.

Isces
Power - Oh em gee, we have a Pied Piper. This is an incredible idea, very well detailed, and I'm all on track with this. The only caution I would give you is that this sort of power will be very difficult to use without powerplaying. It will need to be approved OOC by the person you're using it against with every post you make.
Posts - 4/15 in character posts for the month of September. Keep on chuggin'.

Lost
Power - It makes sense, it fits with the character... but I would encourage you to dig a little deeper and try to find something outside of the realm of elemental powers which fits Lost. She's been through a lot and has a lot to her character - there are a lot of really incredible things you could find for her. Don't stop thinking. Remember, you can enter more than once. :)
Posts - No in character posts in the month of September

Aesteria
Power - It's a very creative idea, and certainly fitting to Aesteria's character. The biggest flaw I see in it is that it makes her both immortal and undefeatable in battle. In order for this power to be feasible, it needs to contain some flaw - i.e. if she receives the equivalent of a fatal blow she will die. Even then, since she would be undefeatable in battle except by one singular, fatal blow, you would need to keep her out of judged battles and arrange all fights OOC before they begin. I'd also encourage you to have wounds heal slowly, not instantly, after they are transferred to your opponents, leaving some spark of a chance for her to lose every once in a while.
Posts - still 4/15

Aluka
Power - This is very similar to a generic earth elemental power, but I like the twist of actually hearing the plants' thoughts or seeing visions from them. I also like the idea of treating the trees like equals with their own society and way of living. If it is roleplayed off of that idea, I could see this working. :)
Posts - 4/15 in character posts in September.

So, overall, your biggest weaknesses are that you're not actively posting in character. You have the rest of the month of september (that's three more weeks) to get up to 15 in-character posts. You can do it, guys. They don't have to be novels. :P

Ayla

A snotty, cocky, prideful, determined mare who wants and HAS to know everybody's business. She's not so much a rumor spreader as she simply is a busy-body: wants to know everything about everyone, and will do all in her power to pull it from them. Despite her pride and such however, she will help anyone out with anything. Although it might increase her big head as she prides herself in how well she helps others, but you can't hardly bring Ayla down - she can always twist EVERYTHING to make her feel more prideful.

Faction: Scholar, in that she prides herself on her knowledge and probably would like to condescendingly teach others what she knows - yet keep knowledge from them, as she is prideful and doesn't want to lose her 'high' standing.

Power: Mirroring Others with an Illusion, she can mirror others' appearances and because of knowledge of others has trained herself to develop their accents and habits as well - not really so much a part of her power, but sometimes it assists.

How this comes about, goes along with her personality, and will develop:

Ayla prides herself on being able to extract information from anyone, because that's what she wants after all - information, facts, histories, knowledge. She tends to take her faction a little too seriously at times and really get into discovering gritty details about the lives of others. Her reason for this is, "You can learn much from the lives of others." It would be that the power of persuasion would be her ability, but Ayla already prides herself on her clever words and well-spoken sentences to glean information, so she doesn't need the power of persuasion, she's already smart enough for it.

One thing that frustrates her, however, is that some equine just WON'T yield and that makes her persuasiveness void and her informative details cut short. This doesn't please the little cocky mare, and her determination has caused her to view this one thing -- horses share secrets with horses that they are familiar with. Now if only I could be someone they are familiar with! Ayla thinks, her mind contriving ways to get close to them; to BE the ones they are close to so she can glean information from them... and so that brings us to this: Mirroring Others through an Illusion.

How it works: So, Ayla sees that if she could mirror the appearance of others, in other words, take on their physical attributes and voice she could turn into horses that others are close to and persuade them to tell her all about themselves.

Level 1-2: As her excitement increases, her voice begins mimicking the voice of others, then able to take on their eyes and way of gazing/looking. It doesn't last long, just little short periods here and there; near the end of level 2 since its such a small thing she will be able to change the eyes for even longer. The red sclera around her own ugly eyes tends to be redder and uglier when she returns to it after mirroring.

Level 3-4: Her mane and tail can change now, and her coat flickers between her coat color and theirs. If she concentrates, she can hold it for a period of time, long enough to be disguised but her body still has her shape and size. Not long enough to really get very far with decieving others. Her own mane and tail are even scragglier and there's less of them after she attempts mirroring, her eyes still getting redder after each transformation. Of course, she can't really control the changing at this time, she has to calm herself and not be talking to allow the transformations to stop.

Level 5-6: Can now begin to mold her body shape to match theirs at level 5, and holds her coat, mane, tail and eyes for long enough to carry on at her busy-body work but even at level 6 she cannot fully take on their body shape. Her gangly legs tend to look even more gangly after mirroring body shapes, and again the mane, tail and eyes look worse for wear after doing so. At level 5 she is also able to keep herself from changing into others now, despite her excitement - or maybe she's just better able to control her excitement.

Level 7-8: Can fully go into their body shape at level 7 but can't hold it for more than a few seconds, at level 8 can hold it a few minutes. She can train herself to develop some of their personality traits when she mirrors now, but there's still alot of busy-body Ayla in there - she has to try alot even at this point to be like them and hide her own self. Her own ugly appearance continues to get uglier after her mirroring sessions.

Level 9: Can change her colors, her eyes, her body shape, her voice, and her gazes and hold them for awhile. Still retains her own way of talking and way of moving. By now, poor Ayla looks like an ugly bedraggled beast after mirroring others - so she tends to try to mirror some of the qualities of others to make herself look better, and this takes alot of strength out of her. She only ever now is her true self when she's alone, because she finds it harder and harder to maintain her cocky pride as her body has become uglier and uglier with the transformations.

Level 10 (max): She will not only now be able to take on their appearance and voice and way of looking, but has developed the skills to mimic their speech, movements, etc. There's hardly a weakness in her flawless illusion now. But Ayla's body gets drained very quickly, and if she ever mirrors them fully she has to take a long LONG resting period. All the way until now her illusions have taken slowly shorter periods of time, because she has to build them all up in her mind until they appear on her body, but now she can take them on quick as a snap.

Downfalls/Weaknesses:

It is always just an illusion, so if someone touches her they won't feel the body they see but they'll feel hers. The other part is that if the person she has created the illusion to look like touches her, the illusion shatters.

So, as you can see, as the powers continue so does Ayla's body and appearance deteriorate. The deteriorations fade if she keeps herself from shifting for awhile, but until level 6 she can't really keep herself from creating the illusion - it simply comes as she gets more and more excited and busy-bodied - Nor does she really care to keep from mirroring for awhile as this ability excites her she uses it often. At level 9 she will keep up some sort of illusion on herself almost all the time, but frequently she has to put herself into seclusion to recover from these episodes - and that kills her inquisitive nature as she keeps herself in solitude.

Another downfall is that to illusion into someone else, she has to be in their presence and they have to be able to see her, even if they don't look her way. Once she gets a good hard look (in later levels, starting at level 8 maybe?) she can take off and mirror into them on the way, but to mirror them again she'll have to go look at them again. And the illusion takes awhile to create, after all, it is her smart mind that puts all the pieces together.

The two ways to ALWAYS see past her transformation:
As she keeps up the illusion for awhile it starts to flicker. This period will be postponed for longer periods of time at later levels, but if she transforms often will come quicker despite her being at higher levels.

Ayla, being different from others as her pride always increases, will not be able to contain her anxiousness and excitement at being able to become a horse that someone else will trust. As she talks, some of her own words will come out occasionally, though this will become less often as she increases through the levels.

Also, because its her own mind, will and knowledge that allow her to talk, move, and act like the horse, this can fall through if she's distracted from it. Her illusion might stay with her power working on it, but the other stuff is entirely from self discipline and she can easily forget to maintain it.

Okay done! Sorry for all the information... I kinda went crazy and its a little jumbled, but its all there I think! Oh and

Edited note: I meant to make it an illusion, but at first I wrote it as she morphs into others - but it's actually her creating an illusion... so sorry for all the 'morph' and 'transforming' words but she's creating an illusion - that's how I'd roleplay it.

They dont have to be of Zoromi. They just have to be IC.
---------

BRUISE

A silent stallion, though not by choice. He was born with malformed vocal cords and all through his life he has struggled to communicate efficiently with others. As a result he has remained a passive sort - comfortably following in the ways of Rhiadre. He tries to communicate through body language - both by touch and by expressions, but this is not always taken to well by others.

Power: Atmospheric Control / Reverse Scrying (in Higher levels)

How it works: The atmosphere changes according to Bruise's emotions. The atmosphere/weather can feel stuffy, hot, cold, fresh and open, static, stormy, foggy etc, according to his mood. At first he can't control it, so his emotions are very wide-open, which is something he is not accustomed to, he is an expert in body language afterall.

As levels 2-4 progress, he learns to subdue his emotions to reduce the affect on the surrounding weather. He will only be able to control softer emotions/moods/feelings first - happiness, shyness, disappointment or sadness etc. Stronger emotions such as anger, rage, love, betrayal, grief etc will be much harder to control and so he won't control them until levels 5-7.

During levels 8-9, he will then learn to use these emotions to control the atmosphere, manipulate it and even be able to communicate with it (eg, if he's sad it will be cold/foggy etc around him, it all depends on the emotion).

At level 10, the very highest, Bruise will be able to communicate with his own form of scrying - by manipulating the weather/atmosphere to form images to communicate with, eg, by drawing moisture from humidity in the air/clouds/even drawing it from plants (once he discovers the ability), he can make images from mist.

How it will change him: At first he will be very bristly, as he can't control his emotions, it is opening him up like never before. As he progresses through levels and he communicates, it will allow him to communicate - meaning he can interact with many more than he currently can (ie, the brotherhood)

Character - Leap of Faith
Parents - Karmoeshon X Rumor
Faction - Zealot

History - Faith was born into a violent stage of Terra's history, only a foal during the viocious fighting of Terra war 1 Faith was sent away to be raised by an older mare named Tranquility. Although the light forces preveiled in thwarting her evil uncles quest for control Karm never returned for Faith, something for which Faith never quite forgave her.

Although Karm had the best of intentions and sought only to keep Faith safe from the prying eyes of her uncle, she could not guruntee Faiths safety forever and so when Tranquility passed as all old equine do - Faith on her own returned to he lands of Terra in search of her mother and childhood memories.

What she found instead was war...again. Returning to Terra during the middle of Terra war II, Faith was taken hostage by Kimimaro who upon order from Loco returned her to Mordred peak where she was used to cement the allience between Loco and Pharaoh, a gift of Loco's most worthy bloodline.

Rescued along with her mother by Stormshadow, Faith has vowed to never be caught in such a fashion again and has turned away from her mothers path...and those of most equines whose rulership of terra has caused nothing but pain and despair - insead Faith turns her eyes to the gods for salvation.

Power desired - Perceptive Shatterpoints

Shatterpoints were perceived like faults in a gem. In relation to events, a single "strike," or action, could cause events to transpire completely differently than they might otherwise have. Often, shatterpoints existed for only brief moments, as they could be affected by even the smallest actions.

When applied to physical items, shatterpoints worked much in the same manner. An individual would view an item, noting where it came together and also noting weak points in its composition. By applying Force to the weak point, individuals could effectively "shatter" the object, causing it to break into multiple fragments

Description by Levels

In the Begining...

Faith will notice an increased perception of the events unfolding around her, she will chalk it up to being 'lucky' when these perceptions allow her to escape unscathed from troublesome situations - like finding a cave before a storm, or avoiding natural dangers,a crack in a frozen lake...a tree bough close to falling. Her perception at this point ill be more enviromental then personal.

In the Middle...

Faith will start to read those around her with more dexterity, she will start to see the dangers others pose before allowing them close enough to do so - or pick out the plesant companions from a pack. She will chalk this up to being nothing more then more observant then those around her...clearly body language must have tipped her off or clued her in to the proper paths to take.

In the End...

It is now that Faith will finally begin to see herself as differant, more then merely Observant and perceptive...here she wll begin to see the patterns which connect everything together, the strings of time which tie everyone and everything to the possible futures thier actions might create. In times of danger she will be be able to pinpoint the best means of escape, in times of stress she may find the best way to resolve a situation.

Such 'visions' of possible futures and paths would occur infrequently and must be acted on swiftly less they change once more, Faith will view these inccidnets as quite literally the hand of god reaching down to show her the way. They may at times cause her to seek out and 'save' others from futures that she feels the gods do not want for them, a vigilante religion driven zealot may well be created.
